Companion to "Composition and Improvisation Resources...," this collection of original and arranged songs is intended to provide music therapists with a diversity of repertoire in their daily practice. They are a celebration, internationally, of music therapist’s original song writing skills and ability to arrange pre-composed songs for therapeutic purposes. The book is divided into eight parts: greeting songs, songs to encourage participation, songs to encourage energy, songs for self-expression, songs for reflection, goodbye songs, songs arranged for percussion instruments and songs for music and movement. These songs can be used as a basis for developing improvisations as well as providing therapists with the motivation to write and create their own unique songs and arrangements. The songs can also be used for different clinical situations including work with children, adolescents, adults, long term and end-of-life care. Finally it is our hope that this volume will be a valuable resource for community music therapists, medical music therapists as well as a source of inspiration for music psychotherapists. Songs are integral to many music therapists practice. This volume has been specifically designed to inspire and expand therapist’s song practice and the endless available possibilities of original creative song writing and arranging.
